Silver is plated from alkaline cyanide solutions almost exclu sively. The metal is introduced as potassium silver cyanide, KASCN 2, which forms when silver anodes dissolve in potassium cyanide solution. Plating solutions usually contain between 10 to 40 g/L 1.3 to 5.3 oz/gal silver metal and up to 120 g/L 16 oz/gal free potassium cyanide.
